Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi is a distinguished leader in banking, finance, and Securities regulations, currently serving as the Board Chairman of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID). With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Al Zaabi has made significant contributions to international and regional financial institutions.
His extensive experience includes influential roles with prestigious organizations such as the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). He has served as Chairman of the Emerging Markets Committee, Vice Chairman of the IOSCO Board, and Chairman of the Union of Arab Securities Authorities. Additionally, Dr. Al Zaabi has been an active member of technical committees at the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB), and a member of the Securities Markets Committee at the GCC.
Dr. Al Zaabi's academic credentials are equally impressive. He earned his PhD in Banking and Finance from Durham University (UK) in 2006, an MBA with distinction in 2000, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting in 1989.
His professional qualifications include membership with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (Australia), Chartered Accountant (UK), and Chartered Accountant in Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). He is also a member of the Institute of Financial Consultants (USA) and the Emirates Association for Accountants and Auditors.
