Agronomist and founder/CEO of Hortitool Consulting, specializing in small fruits (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and currants). He works as a Senior Agronomist, leading technical projects, training, and crop management in several countries, focusing on fertigation, plant health, production system design and production forecasting. He combines respect for past best practices with applied innovation in the field. Jorge Duarte is an agronomist and the founder of Hortitool Consulting, where he serves as Senior Agronomist leading technical projects, on-farm training, and crop management for berry producers. His work spans design of production systems, nutrient solution formulation for soil and substrate, irrigation strategy, plant protection programs, and forecasting services. Since 2004, Jorge has worked in berry production and, from 2009 onward, expanded internationally—combining proven field practice with practical innovation. Today, Hortitool supports growers across Portugal, Italy, Romania, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and India, with cumulative impact on 2,000+ hectares. The mission remains clear: raise growers’ technical knowledge and add measurable value, guided by a vision of sustainable, environmentally responsible systems.

Jorge’s industry contributions include co-organizing and supporting flagship knowledge events—such as the Morocco Berry Conference (knowledge partner since the first edition) and participation in the scientific committee of the Vaccinium Symposium. He shares insights regularly through talks, interviews, and field days.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Algarve and continues to build bridges between tradition and technology—helping farms standardize good practice while adopting tools that improve consistency, fruit quality, and profitability. In 2024, he established Hortitool Consulting Georgia LLC to strengthen service in the Caucasus.
