He holds a degree in Biotechnological Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, with advanced studies at Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea. It was during his time in Asia that he encountered groundbreaking agricultural technologies, inspiring him to bring these innovations to Latin America and adapt them to local conditions.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Juan’s entrepreneurial journey took flight under incredibly challenging circumstances. Starting with a small lab in the basement of his home, he used LED lighting and an innovative water system to grow various greens, including lettuce, arugula, basil, and cilantro. What began as a small-scale, experimental operation soon blossomed into the foundation of City of Greens. Today, the company is recognized as a pioneer in urban farming and climate-smart agriculture in Mexico, focusing on creating sustainable, resilient food systems that tackle environmental challenges such as water scarcity and climate change.

Under Juan’s leadership, City of Greens has forged strong partnerships with researchers from Tec de Monterrey and garnered investment from national and regional companies, solidifying its position as a leading player in the agricultural sector.
