Dr. Abdelilah Belatik
Dr. Abdelilah Belatik is a senior executive and internationally recognized authority in strategic governance, investment, risk management, and organizational transformation. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Investment Sector at the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID), which is undergoing a strategic transformation and rebranding as the Arab Authority for Investment and Food Security (MAYR). With more than 25 years of international experience across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, Dr. Belatik has built a distinguished career in financial services, investment strategy, corporate governance, and institutional development. He spent over a decade with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Luxembourg, New York, and Hong Kong, advising leading financial institutions on regulatory compliance, risk management, and strategic transformation. From 2014 to 2025, Dr. Belatik served as Secretary General of the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), where he led the organization's transformation into a globally recognized voice for the Islamic financial services industry. During his tenure, he established strategic partnerships with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and United Nations agencies, advancing initiatives in sustainable finance, climate resilience, financial inclusion, and digital innovation. Dr. Belatik serves on several international boards and advisory bodies, including the Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC) of the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) and the Central Bank of Bahrain's Waqf Fund. His work focuses on strengthening governance frameworks, promoting sustainable investment, and advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across public and private institutions. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), is a qualified Financial Engineer, and is a certified accountant.
