René Tort Llanos
René Tort Llanos, born in 1994 in Mexico City, is an accomplished leader in the fields of renewable energy and agriculture. Raised in Xicotepec de Juárez, Puebla, René grew up immersed in the family business of cattle raising and agriculture. His early exposure to these sectors ignited a passion for agribusiness that would shape his career. René completed his studies in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP), where he first ventured into the professional world with a role in quality control at a textile company. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, René co-founded ORISUN, a startup specializing in renewable energy solutions. Under his leadership, ORISUN—now Beetmann—became a pioneer in Mexico’s renewable energy sector, recognized for its innovative photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems. Following the successful sale of his share in ORISUN, René joined GRUPO IUSA as the Commercial Director of its subsidiary, IUSASOL. There, he played a crucial role in advancing large-scale photovoltaic and storage projects. In a notable career transition, René was invited by Mr. Carlos Peralta, CEO and Chairman of GRUPO IUSA, to lead Bionatur Invernaderos Biológicos de México as General Director. Bionatur is a leading entity in controlled agriculture in Mexico. Despite initially lacking direct agricultural experience, René’s leadership has driven significant company growth and transformation. His focus on building specialized, self-directed teams and restructuring the company has positioned Bionatur for future success. Under René’s leadership, Bionatur aims to become the largest high-tech greenhouse operator in Latin America within the next decade. His commitment to sustainable practices and community impact reflects his broader vision for positive environmental and societal change. René is also pursuing an Executive MBA at IPADE, enhancing his skills in business strategy, finance, and marketing.
